There are two programs being presented to help people learn the basics of a computer. Introduction to Windows is a ministry of Brethren Community Ministries, 219 Hummel Street, Harrisburg, PA in cooperation with Computer Ministries, Inc., Mechanicsburg, PA, which provides the lab computers and the computers for students who complete at least 10 different classes. Former Pennsylvania governor, George M. Leader, organized and guided the project from when it first started. He was governor from 1955 to 1959.
This program has twelve units/lessons in it’s completion. However, ten different lessons are required to earn a free computer. One hour a week, and without the regular use of a computer, it is most difficult to learn and remember what is taught. For that reason, these lessons are made available.
In addition to the Windows class, OpenOffice.org is presented in a “Special Interest Group” setting to learn this application that comes installed on the machines we give. Getting familiar with this program will enable you to use most other programs.
